Your child has many different moods. It is those expressions that reveal your child’s personality, and are highly regarded heirloom portraits in years to come. Most often in our modern day society we expect portraits to depict smiling happy faces. Sometimes we can make that happen naturally and in fact we do that often by the use of props that you bring from home as well as props we have on hand at the studio. We take the time with our young clients to introduce ourselves, show them around the camera room, and interact with them. This interaction is what builds trust and it turn allows us to "paint" an heirloom portrait on film of your child. Coaching children before a photography session on "how to smile" is not necessary, it usually adds stress and apprehension about the photo session. Simply tell your child that he or she is going to help the photographer make a picture and it will be fun. Please keep in mind that most of the world’s greatest portraits seldom show smiling children looking at the camera but rather children interacting with their environment--smiling our not.
